The wait is over! The much-awaited POCO F2 will be launched in India soon. While the company has not yet announced the launch date, it could be the first phone to be launched in 2021. POCO took it to their Twitter account giving a glimpse of the POCO F2 phone on the 31st of December. They tweeted, “The stage is set! The fun has begun! Let us get ready to take it to the next level! Excited? You should be, coz the next year is going to be even crazier.”

What we know about POCO F2

Post the launch of POCO F1, the company took over 2 years to come up with POCO F2. Yet, they say that it is not the successor of F1 and the work for the F1 successor phone is still in progress. POCO recently conducted an ‘Ask me anything’ session on their Youtube Channel where POCO’s outgoing General Manager, C Manmohan confessed that it is difficult to recreate the same magic that POCO F1 created and left a slight hint about the cost of POCO F2. Of course, it’s going to be higher than POCO F1.

Any Plans on POCO F2 Pro?

In an interview, Anuj Sharma, POCO’s Country Director explained there are no plans for introducing POCO F2 Pro in India as they believe that it isn’t a complete upgrade to POCO F1 which was quite an impressive innovation back then.

Launch of the Brand – POCO

With the Chinese product boycott wave in India, POCO was separated from its parent company Xiaomi as an independent company. The news broke before the launch of POCO F2. Xiaomi Corporation is a Chinese electronics giant founded in 2010. POCO was started in 2018 with POCO F1 being its first phone. It offered top line specifications in a budget-friendly phone category.

POCO will now run as a separate entity in India making its own market strategies. It will continue to build devices with 4G connectivity offering a low price. Since 5G connectivity demands a premium series device, users may miss the operational speed offered by 5G.
