New Mode of Bank Fraud, Better Safe than Sorry
New Delhi: Card cloning or calls from your respective banks are the tricks of yesteryears. Now the fraudsters have come up with all new idea of bank fraud. The fraudsters are sending messages to the phone numbers which asks the customers to verify account number through a link so as to get the credit of income tax return and the link lands into the other page which opens with an IP number and asks you to follow several steps to claim the money but it will land you into loss of funds.
It is advised that anyone who receives such a message which is only for the purpose of bank fraud should delete it immediately without opening the link.
The message would read:
Dear Sir/Madam,
Your income tax refund of Rs 15,480 has been approved and your bank a/c will be credited shortly. Do kindly verify you’re a/c no 5XXXXX6755. If the same is incorrect, quickly follow the link below to update your bank record on file.
Once you click on the link it will land on a page that would open with an IP address and ask you to verify the bank account following several steps. If you complete all the steps your account gets hacked and you might suffer a huge loss.

Customers should be aware that none of the government websites opens with an IP number.
Earlier, there were many reports of bank fraud where the customers used to get calls from the fraudsters who used to say that they are calling on behalf of RBI and the debit card of the customer has been blocked. To activate it again they used to ask for the card number, CVV number, expiry date etc. and then an OTP used to come to your registered number using which they used to either transfer the amount into their accounts or do online shopping using your money.

Despite, awareness campaign run by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) people are being cheated due to lack of knowledge. RBI is constantly making people aware that banks never ask for any details of your card or account. Even there are no telecallers appointed by the apex bank who would seek details of your account or card.
Most of the time people refrain themselves from filing a complaint against such fake calls or messages. It is also advisable that any such calls or messages should be reported so that these fraudsters should be caught and people should not be cheated.
Usually, they try to create a panic situation for the customers but one should control nerves while tackling such cheaters.
It’s always better to be safe than sorry.
