Maruti Suzuki Maintains Top Spot in PV Segment in April
New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India dominated the passenger vehicles segment in April. Seven models of the company appeared in the top 10 selling list and its premium hatchback Swift took the top spot. As per the data compiled by SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) a total of 22,776 units of Swift were sold in April 2018, whereas a total of 21,401 units of Dzire were sold which stood at second spot after Swift. In April 2017, a total of 23,802 units were sold of Swift and 8,606 units were sold of the previous version of Dzire i.e Dzire Tour.
First five spots were picked up by Maruti Suzuki India as Alto, whose 21,233 units were sold, took the third spot whereas Baleno, whose 20,412 units were sold and WagonR, whose 16,561 units were sold, sealed the fourth and fifth position respectively. If we compare units sold in April 2017, then a total of 22,549 units of Alto and 16,348 units of WagonR were sold last year.
Hyundai Motor India also features in three spots of top ten where its Elite i20 took the sixth position with 12,369 units and Grand i10 with 12,174 units took the seventh position. Last year both these models sold 12,668 units and 12,001 units respectively. Both these vehicles slided one position down from their last year’s rankings where they stood fifth and sixth respectively. Hyundai Creata, though, have moved up and made its presence at tenth position with sale of 9,390 units.
Maruti Suzuki India’s Vitara Brezza took the eighth spot with a total sale of 10,818 units whereas Celerio took the ninth position with a sale of 9,631 units.
