Is Google really requesting a “refund” from App Store on behalf of iPhone users?

Google requests a refund from the Apple app store, it is essential to note that this will not impact Google One subscribers’ plans in any way.

Tech giant Google, an American multinational technology company, has recently requested a refund from the Apple app store on behalf of iPad and iPhone users. This matter is about the users who have made a Google One subscription purchase between January 8 to October 20, 2020.

According to Google, Apple has mistakenly counted uploading photos and videos towards storage quota, which are shared across Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos. Google has addressed its users, stating, “The uploads were not supposed to be counted against your storage quota.”

Google also explains that it could have been a technical glitch in the Google Photos storage system that led to inaccurate counting.

The tech giant further mentioned that they are doing all things necessary and trying to get in touch with concerned users through emails. They are only getting in touch with a limited number of users who might have been impacted by this concern. As Google requests a refund from the Apple app store, it is essential to note that this will not impact Google One subscribers’ plans in any way. Additionally, there will be no action required for any of its users.

However, Google also mentioned that if any user wishes to cancel their subscription to additional storage at any time, they can change or cancel it whenever they want. This will not affect the quality of photos and videos uploaded, except they will not be counted towards storage data.

Android and Windows users have not been affected by any of these concerns. This matter concerns only iOS users. Google has now reported it’s solving the problem, and the storage is now counted in photos, and the apps reflect accurate storage consumption.
