Combating Pandemics Such as HIV/AIDs Under the New Healthcare Order – Healthureum
Healthureum is a welcomed innovation in healthcare because it helps to tackle some of the issues that have affected millions of patients across the globe. Such problems include some of the incurable diseases that continue to claim lives on a daily basis. Diseases such as HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, and cancer are set to take up most of the healthcare budget by the year 2020 with over $4 trillion of the expected $8.7 trillion budget going into their management.
The worst part about this allocation of funds is there still isn’t a cure for these diseases. However, there are some drugs on the market aimed at reducing the rate at which the AIDS virus multiplies in the body called antiretroviral, which has helped thousands of people increase their mortality. Even then, the disease continues to grow in prevalence and with no cure in sight, health care spending is only expected to soar as more patients are managed and information collected to aid in research.
This information can be vital if distributed and discussed by elite medical practitioners and can also help in the search of a cure for these diseases if shared adequately with research institutes aimed at curbing the spread of these diseases. Despite affecting all countries around the world, problems arise when sharing medical information related to HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis due to the different methods of data collection, storage, and distributed found in various medical institutions. By using EHR systems, hospitals make it harder to ensure interoperability thereby limiting the knowledge medical practitioners receive after handling patients with these diseases.
Here are some of the ways the Healthureum will promote innovation in the treatment of hepatitis and HIV/AIDS.
• Philanthropists
Philanthropists have been a major pillar for healthcare institutions around the globe for aeons, but their participation has dwindled over the past few decades. As technology grows, medical facilities and practitioners have found a way to alter medical data and steal millions if not billions of healthcare funds donated by philanthropists. With no accountability for the money provided, philanthropists have found it hard to help medical institutions.
Healthureum is encouraging philanthropists to join research programs aimed at finding the cures for diseases such as HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis. By pushing for philanthropic activities in such fields, this project is not only directing donated resources to proper use but also aiding in tackling some high concern medical conditions that are growing in prevalence by the day.
Philanthropists will welcome the idea of contributing to such a noble course but what will help them buy more into the concept is the availability of Blockchain and Smart Contract Technology. Blockchain will help medical institutions add some accountability to the usage of funds while giving donors a reason to spend more on research programs. This technology will also help monitor patients better, and research programs can receive updated information on a daily basis from healthcare institutions around the globe to better understand these ailments.
Healthureum will also use Smart Contract Technology to ensure that all the funds deposited by philanthropists are put to good use. Seeing that Blockchain is tamperproof, any alteration of the data regarding the resources at the hospital’s disposal will be noted by both the medical institution and the philanthropists. With Smart Contracts in the picture, philanthropists will be able to follow any transaction reducing the stigma that has been created by fraudulent medical institutions regarding the use of donor funds.
Ethical use of donations will be a massive step towards combatting the spread of Hepatitis and HIV/AIDS and help improve medical infrastructure as well as research programs.
• Interoperability
Medical institutions are part of the reasons why cures for these two diseases or better ways to manage them have not been invented. For starters, there is no interoperability between medical institutions meaning the data collected on the ground by specific research institutes is all that is used in laboratory tests in search of a cure for HIV/AIDS or Hepatitis. The current healthcare systems use EHR systems which are further calibrated to suit a specific hospital’s preference.
With the introduction of Blockchain technology in this project, all hospitals that join the Healthureum ecosystem will not only be able to share but also receive data from their counterparts regardless of their location. As such, new and updated information regarding these two diseases will be quickly analyzed by research programs aimed at finding cures for these two conditions.
Medical practitioners willing to participate in the research can also join the Blockchain and contribute their expertise or research finding in real-time and prevent the illegal distribution of their medical findings. Not to mention, they will also be rewarded with Healthureum tokens, which will be the primary mode of currency on the Healthureum platform, adding to their motivation and compensating them for the time and knowledge provided.
