Havells partners ICA Edu Skills for industry ready vocational training
New Delhi: After taking the leading Government’s ‘Make in India’ campaign, leading Fast Moving Electrical Goods Manufacturer (FMEG), Havells India, has now launched a campaign to augment government’s ‘Skill India’ mission. Havells has partnered leading training and skill-development provider, ICA Edu Skills Pvt. Ltd. for providing industry ready courses to youth.
For Indian economy to grow at 7-8 per cent, growth of manufacturing sector is essential, and for manufacturing sector to grow, industry ready skills being deemed essential for the Indian economy. The courses offered under Havells-ICA partnership, industry aligned vocational training program in the electrical and electronics space will make 12000 underprivileged youth employable in the manufacturing and allied sectors, in next 12 months.
Havells India is already contributed immensely in Government’s Make In India initiative and now this initiative with ICA for providing industry ready training, will complete the full circle to support the manufacturing eco-system in the country.
Known for its innovation and state of art manufacturing facility Havells will bring in it expertise in providing the industry perspective in the courses offered by ICA, which is well known for vocational courses in financial and accountancy sector. ICA is also partner with government’s ‘Skill India’ mission.
“This initiative resonates with our long term goal of being known as a responsible brand that impacts social change. The mission of transforming India into the ‘skill capital of the world’ requires creating human infrastructure and convergence between sectors. We are serving both these ideals with this tie-up” says Dheeraj Khanna, General Manager, Havells.
Speaking about the association, Dr. Narendra Shyamsukha, Chairman, ICA Edu Skills Pvt. Ltd. said: “We have a nearly two decade long association with youth skill-building programs. While courses in Finance and Accounting enabled us to reduce the unemployment situation. By our partnership with industry leader, Havells we aim at the services sector, the electrical and electronics module that helps us gain a foothold in the design and manufacturing training space. This way we can tap into greater numbers for those with a mechanical bent of mind. Technology is the backbone of innovation and economic growth today.”
In next 12 month, 30 Havells-ICA co-branded training centers will be opened where youth aged between 18-35 years will be trained without any fee. Each successful candidate graduating of these centers will obtain a Havells-ICA co-branded certificate which will leverage the full weight of these brands in the industry-education space.
It is estimated that 34.33 per cent of India’s population will consist of young individuals looking to join the national workforce by 2020. India’s ‘Skill India’ mission is pledged to facilitate the entry of 104.62 million new employees in industry by 2022.
