Mumbai: In November 2017, Walmart opened its first fulfillment center in India in Mumbai. Walmart currently operates 21 Best Price Modern Wholesale stores in 19 cities across 9 states.
While the growth trajectory is key, enabling small businesses to prosper is a key mission at Walmart. Their India business benefits one million members, including kiranas, small businesses and local suppliers.
With the objective of enabling small businesses to prosper, Walmart reaches out to the kiranas, resellers and small businesses with relevant assortment, address their expectations and fulfill their requirements through convenient shopping solutions.
Each of Walmart’s stores offers B2B e-commerce solutions for members either online or through a mobile app and accepts orders over the phone or through the Kirana Relationship Managers. Not just the orders, Walmart India consistently works towards deeply entrenching itself to help Kirana stores and resellers accelerate their growth through holistic retailing solutions.
Based on research and feedback from existing members, the Best Price Stores of Walmart have introduced several education programs for members with customized modules.
The ‘Mera Kirana’ has been created to share best practices with members who are small and medium retailers. It also advises on various aspects of using low-cost modern techniques and processes such as assortment planning, layout and fixtures, displays, backroom, licenses, safe food handling, customer retention and value-added services.
Under Walmart’s Reseller Development Program, the firm also supports small resellers and kiranas to transform their outlets into modern stores.
